The red mangrove is so important to coastal life it is home to so many creatures.
My wife and I kayaked through a mangrove forest in Key West many years ago. We were amazed at how much life existed there. The shallow waters near the roots were filled with all sorts of critters. Wish I had taken a camera back then :-)
This abstract scene takes a while to figure out. Maybe that's good. I like the almost collage look to it. I like how the roots, water, sky intermingle into one scene.
TJ, Thanks, Mangroves have got to be some of the coolest trees ever. I liked the one for the same reason you did. I didn't see the sky when I took it, but as soon as I looked at it I knew it was a keeper.

the psychedelic beauty of mangrove, and the touch of an artist.

I really like the sense of abstraction in this one.... the bronzy colors that seem to glow... the play of depth created by the reflections. It has a feeling of multiple dimensions of time for me. This is one of those images that is perfect for meditation... letting oneself float into it.

It lies with each of us individually. Peace, for example, starts within each one of us. When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us. HH The Dalai Lama
Canon 5DmkII, 16-35mm at 16mm, iso100, 1/15 sec at f/8.0, +CPL There is a feeling of effortless effort when passion is connected to a process. It is amazing to me that when I am creating images the aches and pains in my body seem to disappear for that time. Photography is my meditations.

Really nice use of the roots as leading lines. I can just feel the warmth of this still water (and the mosquitoes too!).
