41 - Key to Life

Thoughts that combine my practices, yoga and photography;

The ancient sages said the key to life is balance. Balance in every layer of our being, but what are we balancing? The answer is the three qualities of nature, they are called gunas. Roughly translated as (mass or inertia), (vibrancy or dynamism) and (luminosity or the quality of light). When I'm able to balance these qualities in me my photography is fun and I get better results. When my images convey these qualities in a way that connects the viewer to nature's dance to balance the gunas I am grateful.

Mike, I think that I do see nice balance here, but 3 Gunas? I'll have to work on that. It's great how much of the cloud formation leads to the boat.

AEB and Lightroom? Do tell?
The way the texture on the water, the way that Biscayne Bay water goes in every which way, so different from my closest reference to a body of water, the Columbia River Channel.

This is truly your style, Mike. I think when you really like a photo that you've made, and it feels right to you, then it speaks clearly to the viewer and communicates well your style.

I like the low saturation look - it's almost monochromatic, like a B&W. I'm not sure the two posts are helping much, however. I think they're a little distracting from the boat and it's implied motion.
Bob, you might know the 3 gunas a little differently as; e=mc2
The whole universe is locked in nature's balance.

Kronski, Thanks for commenting, yes LR with sliders going every which way.

J.L.T. Thanks so much for your comments and support.

TJ, Thanks for your comments, yes this is getting closer to a style for me, clouds, water and boats. The two post are channel markers and I felt required for the boat returning from sea...
