85 - A Creative Path

Canon 5DmkII, 16-35mm at 16mm, iso100, 1/6 sec at f/9.5, +CPL

I feel like I'm in a creative rut maybe it's the rain, pretty much straight for 3 weeks. I want to think that's the reason but it's probably not. It is to easy to go back to the same place with the same equipment and shoot the same shot with a different sky. I don't want a break I want an idea. So I'll go searching...

I know this is a universal phenomena, any comments would be appreciated.

Puh, this is so lovely and also unsettled. For the path, you could always search with your heart and do what you ever wish but never did. Start playing around... Sunny greetings

I think the pretty sunset clouds are nice, but they distract a little bit from the pier. I really like the pier's symmetry, brown tones, and loneliness (or maybe it's peacefullness?). This image would really work well in B&W if you wanted to focus wholly on the pier, IMO.

I don't have an answer about going through a creative rut. I'm in one myself right now. I just don't feel like shooting anything.

This happened to me last year about the same time. My creative photographic energies just left me.

So I didn't force it or push it (can lead to burn out). I just waited. After a couple of months, I was thirsting again for photography. I itched like a madman to get outdoors and photograph everything.

So, here I am again in the same rut. The muse has left. So I wait...

Don't torment you, take your time ... it's always a light at the end of a tunnel.

Hey Mike -- I really like the over-the-top color in this image. It works so well with the sunset, water and the dock.

Creative rut??? WHO ever gets into a creative rut???? :) Good tequila -- Herra Dura, Cazadores, Corazone -- sometimes helps!

Or, just a break -- some rest, relaxation, a different view of the world for a while.
